About me

My name is Shai. I’m 23 years old, I live in Israel, where I was born and raised. I have recently escaped a downward spiral that culminated in an attempted suicide, excommunication of all my friends, and great crimes that I’ve committed in an 18 months-long phase in my life that was dominated by insane grievance. The reason for all of this is the traumatic demise of my late mother, which caused me to become so engrossed in grief, that I have simply lost all likeness to the man I was.

But, for several months, all of this is behind me now. Now I’m sitting on a calm shore, trying to rebuild everything from scratch. And in many ways, this process has been going well.

I think the best way to describe myself is by pointing out the things I’ll be writing about. I will write about everything that I like, think about, do or have strong or even any kind of feelings about. I’ll put poetry and random philosophical musings in this blog. I will write about belief and disbelief (being an atheist, I have a lot to say about the matter). I will write about science, being the science afficionado that I am. Hopefully, in some negligible way, I will get to promote science in any way I can.

I will write about the deaf. Being the second born of two deaf parents (one of them, as mentioned above, is no longer alive). I will write about what it means to help the deaf and to be a hearing child to deaf parents.

I will write about animals and about biology, my most beloved field of science.

I will also write about martial arts and martial philosophy, both two key elements ofย  my personality, as I’ve started training when I was only 12, and martial arts and philosophy have been a strong influence on me throughout puberty.

I will also write about silly shit that makes me laugh๐Ÿ™‚ And hopefully, anyone who’d be reading this.

I’m strong-opinioned, but flexible and patient. I adore objective, respectful discussions, especially when the discussion is between two people with different opinions who are both willing to hear what the other side has to say.

Oh, and in case this is an important issue, I am (quite) taken. I’ve been coupled with a crazy and amazing beautiful young lady who’s also been quite an influence on my personality. I will refer to her here as I do in real life as any of the variants of “pitz” (i.e pitzush, pish, pishush, etc.)

That’s about it, I guess. Knock yourselves out.

Dear RS, I’ve added you to my blogroll. As someone who was brought up as Jewish and now is an avowed and outspoken atheist, and most importantly, a fellow human being, I say maa salam and shalom.

    Hi Shai,

good to hear that you’re on the up and up. you talk about reality. have you checked out Colossians 2:17. thanks for the input. i will definitely check out the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. perhaps we’ll change the title to Truth Revealed.

    Deb,

Hello. First of all, you didn’t even authorize my comment containing anything about the 2nd law

    and more importantly,

I think you should have “checked out” on the 2nd law BEFORE you wrote a post saying it disproves modern biology.

Also, I haven’t checked Colossians (sp?), I was raised Jewish, so I know almost nothing of the new testament. I probably know more about the old testament than a lot of christians, though.

Listen, I can pretty much see who I’m dealing with – greatly devout and a firm believer and all of that – and that’s FINE. But you don’t have to go around and spread ancient lies about science just to make sure that people will keep on believing… Christianity will survive any advances in science. People don’t believe in christianity because of science, they believe in it because people tell them to. That’s not going to change.

I’m saying this because writing what you wrote is meaningless because skeptics like me will see right through it and believers would probably not bother to read it or test it.

    Good day!

Wow man, that’s one cool blog you’ve got yourself here. Makes me wanna open an English blog myself.

and some life-story for a 23 yr old.

    Good luck and all.

It’s not just an English blog, it’s just that there’s really no Israeli readership here. Not that there’s much readership in here at all.

    Cheers.

  8. Why can’t these people just say what they think, instead of just quoting the Bible? To the rest of us it really doesn’t give it any more weight coming from a book.

    Colossians 2:17 (New International Version)

These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Deacon Duncan said that Christians and Jews found an amazing innovation in the bible – it gives them “portable credibility”. They quote the bible because it has the credibility of the Truth ™ regardless of the idiot lowlives who quote it.
